Tango Atelier is the creation of Greek dancer and painter Margarita Plessa and Argentine dancer and actor Ariel Perez. Drawing inspiration from their shared love for tango, the arts, and Argentine culture, they wanted to create a space in Athens dedicated to dance and the arts, where different cultures, forms of expression, and movement can coexist and creatively combine.

After 9 years in the center of Athens, Tango Atelier has grown and opened its doors in the neighborhood of our childhood.

Our new studio in Pefki has been designed exclusively to meet the needs of every dance we teach, featuring high-performance flooring, movable bars, theatrical lights, and professional sound equipment. Our space is ideally arranged to host the wonderful teachers and dancers who conduct seminars and shows.

At our studio, we organize Argentina-themed nights, live performances, musical shows, and dance events, while milongas take place on a weekly basis throughout the year. In the summer, we move our events to the lush garden.

The inspiration for the Tango Atelier logo comes from the art of the indigenous peoples of Latin America. The guardas, symbols of the life of the Mapuche, Incas, Mayas, Aztecs, Tehuelches, Aymara, and many other tribes, authentically and spontaneously reflect the wisdom of the early peoples of the Latin American continent through their artistry. The symbol, chosen from hundreds, is lost in the depths of time, and no one can say for sure to which tribe it belongs. After all, they were so interconnected, with borders not marked as we know them today. Wherever it originates from, each guarda, with its symbols and artistry, serves as a reminder that we are all inhabitants of the Earth, with common roots and worldviews, and that art is a universal means of communication.
